I enjoyed this book as a light read; it certainly wasn't profound, but the main character is winsome and you really want her to succeed.

It's billed as a Jane Austen-style science fiction book, which I suppose it is; the society is basically eighteenth century English aristocracy covered with a very thin veneer of science fiction. There are seamstresses, duels, snooty ladies, and the English aristocratic aversion to laboring people; and then there are spaceships.

So it was a nice, cozy story, with the dashing and sensitive young gentlemen who, when he meets the now penniless heroine... well, you can probably predict what happens. Originality is not a strength of this book. The hero felt implausibly good, but I suppose that is a characteristic of this genre. (Here is where the comparison to Jane Austen breaks down; her characters, or at least some of them, are much more interesting and less one-sided.)

The hero is also implausibly good at taking down the bad guy, too. I did have to roll my eyes there. When you get there, you'll see what I mean.

Can't say it was a great book, but it is nice a feel-good sort of story.

Not to my taste

But very well done. Blending SF and Regency styles quite well. The SF tended to be a bit muted, but it remained present throughout.

No typos I noticed. Professional grade writing, just not what I generally like.

This was a very enjoyable novella that focuses on Anne de Bourgh. This Anne has a strong spirit and takes a lot of pride in her horses as well as her ability to drive her phaeton. This was a fun quick read with some interesting characters involved. While the ending was good U would have liked the story to be a little longer and to have read a bit more about Mr. Frasier since it seemed like something could have developed between him and Anne.
