Informative, lots of pictures, but top-down pictures or drawings would have been very useful instead of just side-angle shots.

In this extraordinary book, readers will find an overview of every manned space mission from 1961 through 2005, with detailed information on each mission from the United States, the Soviet Union, China, and commercial flights. Following an overview of manned spaceflight, the book divides into decades and gives a synopsis, background information, and a photograph for each flight taking place in those ten years.

The book is huge, in terms of both information and size. Far larger than coffee table books, it measures almost 17” X 23”, allowing for the inclusion of what is arguably the true highlight of this well-researched and informative book: more than forty full-page, poster-sized absolutely breathtaking photographs chronicling manned spaceflight. Also included is an oversized [23.5” X 33”] collage-style poster.

“Space: The Ultimate Frontier” is a treat for the eyes and a treasure-trove of information for readers interested in manned space flight.

Highly recommended.

From the dawn of aviation until the end of World War II—the “golden age” of flight—these 300 influential multi-wing aircraft ruled the skies. Among the classics of the pioneering years and beyond: the Sopwith Camel, the Red Baron’s Fokker Triplane, the Fairey Swordfish, and the Consolidated Catalina, as well as popular civil aircraft like the Tiger Moth and Supermarine S.5.

gallery of artwork celebrating a century of aviation, from WWI to the present day. The pages evoke the thundering of a formation of B-29 Superfortresses, the frenzied chaos of a dogfight, or the majesty of the Space Shuttle. Includes over 150 color reproductions of canvases by both known and unknown artists, rendered in a number of styles, including many photo realistic paintings. Each work is accompanied by a short narrative giving historical background, biographic details of the artists, and other germane information.… (plus d'informations)
