Well written but did not captivate my attention. Interesting story line though.

If you've recently joined Alcoholics Anonymous, this is not the book for you. As a girls get away in Mexico, there are constant cervesas and tequila shots and cocktails. I almost got a contact drunk from reading this.

That didn't bother me. But the pacing dragged, and there was a lot of telling, rather than showing, and often, telling of unimportant details. For example, they are supposedly cruising the main tourist shopping area in hopes of locating the woman they think is the killer, and get drawn into a shop. The killer is not in the shop, then we get a blow by blow description of what was bought: So-and-So bought this, and so-and-so bought that. None of the items bought had any significance later on, and sheds little light on who the characters were.

Of the four lead characters, only Vivian and Lucy felt well-defined; Kate and Wendy (note: I had to look up her name after reading about her for the whole book) were not. The jokes and humor felt flat (to me, YMMV), and the whodunnit wasn't compelling.

It's the first book by this duo; their craft may improve with time/experience. I did feel like I got a decent tourist's eye view of the sights and sounds of this small Mexican beach town, so if that's what you're looking for, you might enjoy this.
