Not what I expected

I thought this was going to be more of a romantic fantasy but turned into more of an Arabian Knights or Aladdin tale which ate not my thing.

I groaned when the djinni popped into the story because it had been such an interesting plot up until then. I almost stopped reading but kept going because of the author's unique way of mixing serious with a little humor and because I really like Zadie's character. She is a no-nonsense type of girl who speaks her mind. I'm glad I kept going.

I think Kassim is a jerk and can't see that changing but maybe he will have his misogyny slapped out of him.

I'm going to read the next book in the series.

I'm hooked.

I can't get enough. Zadie is such a loveable character. She is smart and funny.

Most of the characters are interesting except Kassim who I call names throughout the book. He is way too serious and blind to his advisor, Hepzibah, who I call Hepatitis. I hope he gets wise to her soon.

This was great writing. I can't wait to see what's next.

I was tense all the way through

I was terrified for Zadie and her friends all the way through this book with good reason. They were up against a tyrant and powerful sorcerers. I wasn't sure if she could outsmart them this time.

There was never a dull moment. In fact, I had to take breaks in certain parts of the book because they were so intense. Once my butt muscles unclenched, I was able to continue reading.

It's sad to say goodbye to this series and the characters with whom I fell in love with. I'll have to look into reading more from this writing duo.… (plus d'informations)

I'm getting annoyed

I get so annoyed when a bad guy in a story keeps getting away with bad things over and over again. Zadie has the trust of Kassim but still doesn't tell him her suspicions about Hepzibah.

The other annoying thing is Lalana. I can't stand her and I think she might be a bad guy. I might be wrong but she seems sketchy and Zadie always gives up everything for her. It's sickening.

How long can they stretch this story out for and how many more twists and turns can there be before the good guys get a break?

I'm going to read the last book and hope the good guys get a little smarter.
