This one follows our old acquaintance, Callidus assassin Sycarox, as we find her on yet another long-term mission, this time identifying and zeroing on the Tau empire sympathizers on the Imperial world.

What starts as a rather straight forward coup de grace ends up in desperate combat in the governor's office, in the middle of the public address.

Same as with the other short story (Live Wire) there is certain open-ending here too. Mysterious person with what might be categorized as vendetta against our hero. Man, I truly hope these endings lead to more goodies :)

Action scenes, that feeling of long term infiltration and unexpected turn of events that just created mess out of everything..... it is all great. Author managed to give us that edge of the seat feeling of the deep cover operative and her actions in unforgiving world of Warhammer 40k.

Highly recommended to all fans of spy/assassin stories.

When one of the Dark Mechanicum techpriests comes close to creating a virus to control the Mars' human and technical resources through their cyber plugins, Lords of Terra dispatch the Assassinorum member, Callidus infiltrator, to investigate and eventually take out the fallen techpriest.

But in order to achieve this time is required and sudden capture of new Mars ship just might provide the assassin with the break required. And it is not like lives of captured Mars' labor force can't be used for greater cause, right?

Very interesting short story with recurring character (Callidus assassin Sycorax).

Plot, twists, back-stabbing and cold mechanical horror is what you would expect from the fallen Mars techpriests. Only thing that is left incomplete is the ending. I assume this short story ties in (or will tie in) into greater story arc. Gotta say, can't wait :)

Recommended to fans of spies and saboteurs set in Warhammer 40k universe.

Well this was a tour de force.

Raith, Vidnicare assassin, is hunting for longer than expected ever-eluding enemy sniper and insurgent striker called Alphus. After finally managing to keep the line-of-sight on Alphus' party Raith decides to put the end to the chase and finally enter the club of Vindicare assassins that proved themselves to undertake truly independent missions.

Story is very visual and would make one mean animated movie - scenes with two snipers stalking and firing at each other remind me of Stephen Hunter's works.

Excellent action packed short story about what must be one of the coolest :) Assassinorum clades.

Highly recommended.
