Okay, so I have had a string of duds (as has been heavily documented here on Goodreads.) So when "Moments Like This" came in for me at the library, I didn't know what to think. For one thing, having an actor's name attached as an author credit scares the crap out of me. It can either be oh so good....or oh so bad. But I was determined to give the book a fair shake and besides, I want to go back to Hawaii and snorkel and eat lilikoi and walk on the beach.....so if a book could take me there....yay

I'll own it. I loved the book. I smiled the entire time I read it. Kris Polaha is a favorite of mine on Hallmark and honestly, this book felt like a Hallmark movie. And no, that's not bad. The book ALSO had substance y'all; it wasn't all fluff! But I got transported to a world where I kept casting this movie and yep, totally figured out who would be the leading man. Leading lady....slightly harder.....

Anyway, thank you Moments Like This for getting me out of a rut with reading. This librarian and Hallmark nerd is grateful.

Things happen when you least expect them to. Life never moves in a straight line. If it did, we would never have met.
Most importantly, I’d come to Hawaii to find myself. Not to have someone find me.

So if you enjoy a nice clean romance, Hawaii, or Hallmark Christmas movies then check out this book for real. The book is divided into three parts with two being from the perspective of the main female character Andie and one from the point of view of Warren the love interest. The story starts out around Christmas time and instantly gave me Hallmark movie vibes.
Basically Andie is a very successful business woman who has just been passed up for an important promotion and due to some job related stressors has decided to go on leave for a few months to rest. Lucky for her, Api, her best friend has a coffee shop in Hawaii that she needs someone to run for a few months. So Andie heads off to Hawaii where she quickly realizes that she could help Api by making the coffee shop and the coffee plantation more profitable and well known.
Andie puts all her time and effort into accomplishing this task for her friend and in the process she meets Warren. Neither one of them shares much about their backgrounds, but Warren has a secret that could destroy everything that Andie has worked for. When she discovers the truth will she be able to put it aside and continue the relationship that they have gradually developed?
I loved this book because it was a cute story. Andie was a strong business woman who wanted to find herself. She really went to Hawaii with the intention of working on herself and I think the authors demonstrate her character development perfectly. She was very aware of herself and maintaining her personal growth while still being open to the potential relationship that was blossoming with Warren. Naturally because it reads like a Hallmark movie some of the plot was predictable but I can never be mad at a cute Hallmark movie. So I for sure wasn't mad at this beautiful book.
I really recommend you give this one a shot it is a quick read and the characters are well rounded and developed. Not to mention the authors provide imagery of Hawaii that almost makes you feel like you are there. They do a great job of highlighting this magical element of Hawaii that has the ability to heal a person.

This is a well written novel with several interesting main characters and a setting in the beautiful islands of Hawaii. The authors describe Hawaii so well that it is an integral part of the story. Along with the beautiful setting there is friendship and romance and a story that will keep you interested until the end.

Andie has given up her life for her job. She works long hours and never has time or energy to spend with her friends. Even her boyfriend leaves her once he realizes that her job is the most important part of her life. But Andie has an end goal in sight - after all of her hard work, she knows that she will be made a partner in the firm. She is devastated when she finds out that the job she had been working towards for so long was being given to the man that she had been mentoring and who had less skills but better connections. While Andie is trying to figure out what to do with her life, her best friend asks her to come to Hawaii from her home in Chicago to manage her coffee shop while her friend is in Europe. She jumps at the chance, takes a leave from her job, throws a few things in her suitcase and flies to Hawaii. When she gets to the coffee shop, she realizes that it needs a complete makeover to be successful and she starts to work toward that goal. On Christmas Eve, she meets Warren and there is an immediate attraction. They both are keeping secrets from each other and decide that they will spend time together without asking questions. Warren takes her to beautiful places on the Islands to learn more about the history as well as places off the tourist path. Their attraction to each other is very strong but when Andie finds out what Warren has been hiding - it severely threatens their relationship. What will she decide to do with the rest of her life?

This is Book 1 in a new series set in Hawaii. I enjoyed this book - especially the lovely descriptions of various areas in Hawaii and am looking forward to the next book in the series.

Thanks to the publisher for a copy of this book to read and review. All opinions are my own.
