This ode to the forest, published in 1965 by a trained botanist with a day job in an advertising agency, crafts a sweeping story of the forests across most of North America embracing science and a deep wonder. Some of the chapters standing alone could stand shoulder to shoulder in a collection of best essays of the century. It is full of interesting facts to ponder and to share with friends. This is one to savor.

Fascinating reading. One hardly knows whether to regard these as myths, hoaxes, lost writings or what. As one who is not a scholar of the ancient world and also is not a believer in any god, spirits, fairies, etc., I regard all writings as simple human creations. As for when these were produced, I leave it to others.

Again, despite the sensational title, this is just an old translation of the OT apocrypha.

Still working through this one. A great addition to the bible and the gnostic scriptures.

Fascinating collection of apocryphal and pseudepigraphical works that are no longer canon in most modern Bibles. It would be useful to have a bit more information and background provided about the works, as well as information about the English translations, but I think this book's goal is simply to provide the works, with minimal commentary (there is some comment at the beginning of each work), and let the readers experience it for themselves. Definitely of interest for those who enjoy religious studies, religious history, early Christianity, and so forth.

Tenth printing; reprint of the edition of 1927. Claims to be 'indebted to The Apocrypha and Pseudopigrapha (R.H. Charles), The Odes and Psalms of Solomon (Rendel Harris), and The Book of Adam and Eve (S.C. Malan), published in England in 1882.' Is this text perhaps simply stolen from those named and prestigious translators? Bound with: The lost books of the Bible.
