Random Prime Reading selection about a young American woman who goes to Paris to 'find herself'. I don't mind Hallmark movies, and the print versions are just as easy to sit through. Rose Zadeh is fed up with being walked over by her family and her boss and wants something more from life. When she is forced to take three weeks leave, she decides to escape her nagging 'mom' (ugh) and demanding sisters and fly to Paris, her first international vacation. This being Hallmark territory, romance is involved, and Rose meets two very different men - both Americans in Paris, naturally, can't have any actual European love interests.

Rose's family are in fact horrendous and I was desperate for her to finally snap and shut them up. She also spends far too long eulogising her Iranian immigrant father, who died TEN YEARS PREVIOUSLY - my mantra throughout the first half of the book was 'Jesus, move on' - but that too is also part of the inevitable transformation. Rose herself is, unfortunately for me, very relatable and I was firmly in her corner. The men she meets, dodgy 'Kid' and dependable Marco, are stock characters, to the point where I was actually cringing and thinking, 'Oh no, she has to pick between Wickham and Darcy, doesn't she? Please don't go there.' (She does go there.)

The plot is equally predictable, bar the random bout of fever straight out of Austen, but Paris and the south of France are lovely settings. Rose stands up for herself, leaves her old life, and picks the right man. A pleasant way to pass the day.

A first book, but quite satisfying. Rose, the oldest daughter of an Iranian immigrant father (deceased) and an Anglo mother is a doormat - always doing what others want. When she gets fired she goes to Paris to find herself. And she does, but not without a few trials.

Rose has never missed a day of work. She has accrued many days of vacation. Now her boss says she MUST take a vacation. Rose really does not want to leave her safety net. But, she takes a leap of faith an books a 3 week trip to Paris. Needless to say, this changes her whole outlook on her life!

I adored Rose. She has tried her whole life to please everyone. Now, she has decided to please herself. And boy does she do it big! She takes off on her dream trip…TO PARIS! She ends up tangled up in more family drama. She thought she had left that at home AND a possible art theft. So, needless to say, her trip is definitely memorable.

I enjoyed so much about this tale. The characters and the setting create a wonderful story which will stay with you for several days!

I received this novel from the author for a honest review
