I enjoyed this book, but somehow found it a bit slow-going and had to read it in short bites. Not a page-turner, but Allan writes very evocatively of the tribulations and pleasures of living in southern Tuscany, and I found memories came flooding back, having stayed in the same area a few years ago. Tuscany has something very special about it - the food, the people, the soft light on the fields and hills. Reading this book has fired me with a passion to go back there.
