A really accessible guide to ADHD for both people with ADHD (or suspect they have it) and for the people in their lives. It's easy and fast to read while still covering many specific, actionable points. Even though the book is from 1995, I still highly recommend it.

Pretty good, especially if you really are fairly unaware of what you should and shouldn't be doing. But be mindful, if you are ADHD, that you probably have a lot of trouble with impulsive behavior, and this book doesn't do a whole lot in that area. This is much more of a "this is how people expect you to behave, so do this to get along in society" book than a "how to make yourself become socially competent" book, if that makes any sense. Don't beat yourself up if you get to the end of this book, have a ton of "to do" things, and still find yourself faltering in social situations.

This in no way is meant to imply the advice in the book is bad - it's just that it's no cure-all, and if you have a pretty good idea of what you're doing wrong but have no idea how to fix that, you might feel like you wasted your time reading it.

Though I'm not officially diagnosed with ADHD (and may or may not have it- my lack of social skills may be due to difficulties learning caused by early hearing problems), this book has been a great help. It had me saying, "They expected me to know that!?!" a number of times. The fact is, no one TEACHES social skills after elementary school. No one says, "Here's how to make small talk." Everyone just gets it- except me, and apparently some other people. Lucky for us, this book lays everything out in a clear way. Why didn't someone hand me this while I was struggling through middle school? Anyway, for anyone who's even a litttle socially unsure, pick up a copy (regardless of whether you have ADHD), and read through to find out the rules you were supposed to have already known.… (plus d'informations)
