Jeb Loy Nichols

A lovely gem of a novel. Plain, honest, beautiful writing with interspered wisdoms. I agree with the back cover blurb: "Suzanne and Gertrude is a rare story with a profound impact." A created book within the novel: "My Life With Donkeys, Their Everyday Ways," by Bronwyn Hanley (c. 1958). Told across a year, from February to September, with spare, black and white illustrations by the author. I will want to buy my own copy.
