Many books have been written about the Jekyll Island Club--a group of millionaires who lived during the late 19th and early 20th century--and retreated to the quiet island off the coast of Georgia. Who knew that millionaires of the early 20th century formed a residential club on Jekyll Island? People such as Pulitizer, Gould, Macy and others I didn't know of built an enclave on lovely Jekyll Island GA where they could spend the winters. Many of the "cottages" still remain and have been restored. Very interesting.

Absolutely loved this book. Have to admit it helped that we had gone there on vaca two years ago and had tea on their verandah, but what a fascinating book. Told from the viewpoint of four people who had worked there, like a fictional novel, it had all kinds of fascinating tidbits about the millionaires who made Jekyl Island their summer home. So even if you had never been there it had anecdotes about Pulitzer, JP Morgan and Vanderbilt, their families and wives among others.
