Just Get Up: And Manifest Your Inner Genius by Isaac Samuel Miller is non-fiction, self help book with a pinch of religion, all about achieving greatness in your life.

I'm not going to lie, this book kind of missed the mark for me. Okay, maybe not kind of.

I think this book is super valuable and has so many great ways to help achieve your inner genius/dreams/goals/what have you. Isaac brings forth many examples of his life and how things can get better if you work hard enough. Unfortunately, the ties with religion and preach-y nature of God's blessing and needing to work hard every day (one note on being only four hours of sleep) left me feeling... kind of confused. This book really focuses on being the best person all the time, but doesn't bring forth the human nature. Bad things happen, people grieve, people have big families or stressors - we can't all be perfect and achieve our goals 100% of the time.

That being said, Isaac has many tools and exercises throughout the book that can help steer people on the right path. So while the book missed the mark with me personally, I think it will really find it's niche and people will appreciate it. There's lots of analogies and metaphors to help people grasp the point Isaac's trying to make, which is why I think it will work with the right crowd.

Maybe I'm not the right reader for this book, but there is value in it. I think the right people will be able to find this book.

Two out of five stars.

I received this book for free from the author, Isaac Samuel Miller, in exchange for an honest review.

Trigger warnings: Religion/Christianity, God, God's blessing.
