Stuart Merrill

Why doesn't anyone else own this? It's a great collection of writings by one of only two Americans I am aware of who were actively involved in "la decadence" of the 1890s (the other being Vincent O'Sullivan - whose works cannot by the likes of me be had) Merrill was a dislocated and déshérité New Yorker who spent most of his creative life in Paris and composed in French. Merrill also translated the works of seminal decadent French authors into English (see his Pastels in Prose) and was friendly with Thomas Rudmose-Brown, the translator who later became Samuel Beckett's favorite professor and mentor at Trinity.… (plus d'informations)
