Disappointing addition to the 33 1/3 series that analyses classic albums. I'm not an obessive JaMC fan, but this book told me very little that I don't know. Stylistically, the book suffers, too., with constant unnecessary repetition and strangely constructed sentences. I wondered briefly if it had been translated from another language, but the author appears to be American. A sample:

"Mary Chain frontman Jim Reid [Jim has already been mentioned multiple times so why tell us, again, who he is?] has been rather public about his distaste with his hometown over the years, too. "We couldn't wait to get out of there fast enough" , he told me, referring to East Kilbride" [yes, you just said that].
