The material is somewhat dated but the message is pretty much timeless. That message being pared down the the simple concept that what you believe, or at least convince yourself you do is the ultimate influencer of your mental state.

Dr. Murphy goes through endless examples and demonstration of this central concept on many topics and life situations we all face time to time or permanently. And to go with this many useful applications for us to experiment with and incorporate into our daily lives. A worthwhile look at things that can truly change your life. If you believe they can, that is.

Lots of statements about how just thinking something can make it happen through the power of your subconscious. No science other than the random, unrelated theories and laws that he sprinkles in to make this sound like it’s based on science and that he knows what he’s talking about. Once a Chemist and now apparently a Psychologist? I’m calling bullshit. Just hope and pray and you can have anything you want? Hahahaa! Yeah, ok. Don’t read this unless you like being swindled.

Most of the examples in this book are similar and are based on "Believe, visualise and achieve". Unfortunately, the book failed to point out that many people had goals too but they didn't achieve them despite believing and visualising the goals etc. But if you get past the biased examples, the book has great concepts and good learning points.

Joseph Murphy is one of the all-time greats. He tells us about the amazing powers of our subconscious mind to heal us and provide us with everything we want, when we convey positive ideas to it by “repetition, faith and expectancy”.

Our subconscious has the answer to all problems, if we give the right orders to it. “Change your thoughts, and you change your destiny”.

“Think good and good follows. Think evil, and evil follows.” Your subconscious mind accepts what your conscious mind decrees. Watch what you say. Never say “I can’t afford it”. Whatever your conscious mind believes to be true, your subconscious will accept and bring to pass. “Believe in good fortune, divine guidance, right action and all the blessings of life.”

“Your subconscious mind controls all the vital processes of your body and knows the answer to all problems.”

You can state to your subconscious prior to sleep that you wish a certain thing accomplished; forces within you will be released, leading to the desired result.

“Imagine the happy ending or solution to your problem … and what you imagine and feel will be accepted by your subconscious mind and (be brought) to pass.”

The Bible itself tells us how to use our subconscious powers:
“Whatever things soever ye desire, when ye pray believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.” – Mark 11:24.

“All disease originates in the mind. Nothing appears on the body unless there is a mental pattern corresponding to it.”

Murphy advises us to stop talking about our ailments or giving them a name. We need to believe in perfect health, prosperity, peace, wealth, and divine guidance.

If we desire to heal an ailment we can use the author’s “passing-over technique”. We can declare firmly and repeatedly “It is passing away now. It is passing away now.”

He also gives us the visualization techniques, the mental movie method, the Baudoin technique, the sleeping technique, the thank-you technique (Thank you, Father, for my wealth), the affirmative method, the argumentative method and the decree method.

What you decree and feel as true will come to pass. “Decree harmony, health, peace and abundance.”

Prior to sleep ask your subconscious for an answer to any problem, and it will answer you.

It is normal to be healthy, and abnormal to be ill.

The main reasons for failure are lack of confidence and too much effort. Relaxation is the key – easy does it.

The three steps to success in prayer are:

1) Look at the problem.
2) Focus on the solution.
3) Rest in a sense of deep conviction that it is done.

Don’t think of how to solve the problem. Just imagine the happy ending, feeling it as best you can. There is an answer and solution to every problem.

The feeling of health produces health, the feeling of wealth produces wealth.

“Imagination is your most powerful faculty. Imagine what is lovely and of good report. You are what you imagine yourself to be.

If you wish to acquire a wealth consciousness, repeat for about five minutes to yourself three or four times a day “Wealth-Success”. “These words have tremendous power --- There is no conflict in the mind when you say ‘Wealth’. Furthermore, the feeling of wealth will well up in you as you dwell on the idea of wealth.”

Your affirmation succeeds best when it does not provide a mental conflict, as it may do when you affirm “I am prosperous”, when you are not. Your subconscious accepts what you really feel to be true.

Murphy suggests repeating the following affirmation prior to sleep: “By day and by night I am being prospered in all of my interests.”

He instructs us to repeat “Wealth”, over and over again, like a lullaby, as we go to sleep at night. We will be amazed at the result. Wealth should flow to us in avalanches of abundance. (I have begun to do this.)

It is our right to be rich. Poverty is a mental disease.

This book is absolutely a must read since it provides us with basic and inspiring information about how to manifest wealth, health and all good things – how to transform your life for the better.

Highly recommended!
