3595. Into the Green: A Reconnaissance by Fire, by Cherokee Paul McDonald (read 4 July 2002) The author spent a year in Vietnam in 1968-1969. This is not an "account" but rather is made up of vignettes of things about his time there. The format of the book is not what I would have preferred, but the book is powerful. And one is revolted by his account of his experience when he returned home and was spat at by a "woman." There is much good about this book, written long after the events without benefit, the author says, of any journal, indicating the searing effect on his memory of what he went thru.
