The Story:
Even 36 books in, I continue to love this series. It was nice to see the mind control and different aspects from the non- immortal perspective. Alisdair and Sophie have so much chemistry. I love the play between them. And I love the uncles, I hope they hang around for a while.

I've never read any of this series before, but this worked well as a standalone. There were a bunch of secondary characters that I didn't know, but it didn't hurt the story or make it difficult to follow.

I was drawn to this book by the idea of a human adopting a vampire baby. I really liked the vampire mythos in the book, it was different. The main and secondary characters were fun and interesting. I didn't sense a lot chemistry between the main characters, but they were both very sweet.

The writing was alright, but I didn't love it. Plot points and dialog were often repeated a few times, in a way that felt like spoon-feeding. The dialog was also pretty corny.

There were some silly parts to the story, but overall it was fun. This was my first Lynsay Sands book and I would read something else by her, if the story was right.

I listened to this on audiobook and the narrator was really good. I do have some trouble connecting with a story when I listen to it (as opposed to reading it), so maybe take this review with a grain of salt. :)… (plus d'informations)
