This book is comprised of two stories, and while I enjoyed them both, the writing felt a bit amateurish and needed additional editing and proofing.

The second story, Circle of Souls, was the strongest of the two, and the author did a wonderful job of building some seriously spooky tension. Unfortunately, that tension was lost in both stories when the reasons behind the supernatural occurrences was revealed., I felt that the events which triggered the characters experiences in both stories did not appear to be dramatic enough to account for the degree of trauma that was needed to support the plot. In short, the lead up was great, but the "tada" moment, when they mysteries are solved, fell short of the expectations set by the plot build up.

These stories have tremendous potential, but I would encourage the author to rethink the culminations in both story lines so the reader doesn't feel let down. Also, the writing could use further review. It doesn't always flow well and it can be disconcerting to end up focusing more on the writing style than the world the author is attempting to portray.

Fire Whisperer and Circle of Souls are both interesting, worthwhile reads. The first one, Fire Whisperer, was much too short to really establish much suspense and I did feel that I was led to the answers much too quickly. But still an interesting story.

Circle of Souls was a delight. It not only kept my interest, but all along the way, I not only was kept wondering what would happen next and how all these things tied together, but I also learned something, which is always a bonus when reading for pleasure. The author, Lynn Clark, has obviously done a lot of research and knows her subject well. She also has skill at story-telling, so you don't come away feeling like you've picked up a textbook, but more like it is a real experience. The backgrounds and the characters were all very believable.

The supernatural aspects of these stories are presented in a way that even the characters are skeptical, but discover that not everything can be explained in logical, scientific ways. It's a good way to look at it and sometimes experience speaks louder than logic.

Good read. Looking for more from Lynn Clark.

Great stories. These two novellas combine two of my favourite subjects, the supernatural and history. Lynn Clark has done some great research and incorporated interesting historical facts and locations into creepy tales of hauntings. The Fire Whisperer started out wonderfully and I was a little disappointed when the author seemed to run out of steam at the end and tie everything up lickety-split. But no such complaint with Circle of Souls. That story had me glued to my iPad until the very end. I've read three of Lynn's stories now and can see a wonderful progression as she hones her craft. I'm looking forward to more from this talented lady.… (plus d'informations)

Lynn conducted excellent research as a background for her stories. I appreciate that she shared those sources at the conclusion of each of her stories. I enjoyed the story line and the author's careful attention to detail. As a result, readers not familiar with Canadian history and geography are not left to flounder distracting them from the narrative. Lynn similarily uses the same techniques to familiarize the reader with other aspects of the story line. I really enjoyed both stories! I hope that Lynn will continue to write and build confidence in her ability. I sense she may not have achieved that one element of authorship as there is an aura of uncertainty about her work.… (plus d'informations)
