This story begins with the protagonist Sophia Donovan, while at the murder scene, looking back on the past eleven years of her life. Up till this point, she was married to Marcus, one of the Sexiest Men Alive. But she’d put an end to that. And so readers are taken through the process of learning what led up to this day.

As one might imagine this book moves back and forth between the present and the past and Lynn skillfully creates this cycle in a world where betrayal, control, and power is commonplace.

You have a rather naive woman, Sophia, who marries a man who attains a status in a group some men covet and many women are drawn to. Meanwhile, Marcus uses his bravado to get what he wants. His impulsive sexual activity was responsive to favoring women who were obtainable and flexible to his desires. And, there were many willing to remain ready.

With that said, Sophia's carrying out an act of this magnitude of self-perceived justice was still surprising to me. Especially since it came in the form of a double homicide.

While the writing was solid, the ending left me believing that after eleven years, Sophia was still as naive.

In "Heart of Stone," Debbra Lynn continues the stellar job she began in the first book of the Hollywood Lies series. Although this is the second book in the series, it takes place chronologically before the first book. That being said, it loses none of the suspense and plot twists that were done so well in the first book. This story delves deeper into the past relationship of characters from the first book and is an involving and compelling read. Debbra Lynn is definitely an author to watch. If these books, and this series, are anything to go by, we have a lot to look forward to from her.

Wow! Not having read any of Debbra Lynn's books before, I wasn't sure what to expect. To say I was pleasantly surprised would be an understatement. I was totally blown away by this book. Right from the start, Ms. Lynn throws some twists and turns at you that you don't see coming, and from that point on, I was hooked. This book was really unique and different, and has so much action and suspense, that you won't want to stop reading once you start. If you do read this book, which I highly recommend, plan to have the second in the series handy, because you'll want to continue this story non-stop. This is another new author to watch and one that I'm putting on my "to-read-immediately" list.
