I won a copy through a goodreads' giveaway.

This free copy was unable to hold my interest. The story descended head first into obvious caricature and cliche. It was neither clever, nor funny. I'm glad I didn't pay money for it.

Avoid.

heheheh. Oh, man.

First thing’s first: I’m severely immature for my age, and laugh at virtually anything. Please don’t hate me. This is in no way intended to make light of an emotional and heartbreaking situation or disease.

The Fault in Our Pants is obviously a parody of The Fault in Our Stars. It’s a very touchy subject for a real life disease that tears families apart, and takes away lives way too soon. I have to be honest, I read it because I needed a light read after all the hardcore books I’ve been reading with epic plots, high fantasy type of stories. Comedians make fun of anything and everything, so something like this didn’t really surprise me, but you can’t please anyone, as some of the reviews warned people away because of the topic... I found this book to be too silly to continue reading. Not my kind of humor

This is a fun, quick read. I have not read Mariano Rivera's The Closer, but I think Lookner has a lot of fun with the story of a Hall of Fame pitching career.

I couldn't even finish this. Crude for the sake of being crude. Not witty. Wow.

This was an okay parody.

The story followed the story line of Gone Girl almost completely until the end.

I did laugh out loud a few times at some of the things that Nick Dunne came up with.

It was a nice, quick read and an okay filler.

This is such a great parody of Gone Girl! You would have definitely had to read Gone Girl to appreciate this. Makes the story so much more interesting!

Entertaining at times, yet a bit crude for my taste.½

Those who loved "The Fault in Our Stars" might be put off by "The Fault in Our Pants." I was not enthralled by the book so maybe parody is not my thing, especially for such a heart-wrenching original book by John Green.

I just finished Steve Lookner’s THE LIGHTNING FART: A PARODY OF THE LIGHTNING THIEF (PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS, BOOK 1).
It was, of course, hilarious. Mr. Lookner must have a parody thesaurus or some such reference book that helps him with his clever play on words. Or maybe, he is a parody guru? a very clever writer? an expert at caricature? Whatever one wants to call it - he has a gift for parody.
THE LIGHTNING FART is such a funny take on Rick Riordan’s very popular series of books for intermediate and young adult readers - PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS. From the title, THE LIGHTNING FART (compared to THE LIGHTNING THIEF), the cover art, the play on names (in the original book, Percy Jackson is the half-son of Poseidon; in the parody, Percy Stinkson is the half-son of Pooseidon), to the camp names (Camp Half-Blood compared to Camp Half-Wit), reading this parody is like riding a roller coaster - the ‘word thrills’ just never stop coming.

I must put in a good word for the original series. THE LIGHTNING THIEF series is well-written, very fast-paced and interesting. It also kickstarted an interest in mythology among my school library readers. The 200’s in my library were dust-covered and rarely referenced but the series put mythology ‘back on the map’, so to speak, as an interesting subject. Classical gods and goddesses were studied and classical architecture was discussed. Kids who rarely looked at a globe were looking at maps of ancient Greece and Rome. Amazing! Never underestimate a good action, adventure series to get kids interested in reading and studying. My hat is off to Rick Riordan’s series AND to Steve Lookner who made its parody so funny. Thank you.

I really expected this to be very funny. Instead I found it okay. It was amusing in the beginning but got old fast. It was a quick read and that is a good thing.

Please note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review

It could have been better. Maybe it was just me, but I think it was a very weak paraody. Unfortunately did not even finish the book because of this issue. TFIOS fans: DO NOT READ!

Received from the Early Reviewers giveaway, and assumed it would be fun. Oops.

A very weak effort, a parody not even worthy of MAD Magazine. It's a thankfully-brief run-through of the events if The Fault In Our Stars, but with dark humor and raunch piled on. The kinds of terrible jokes you might whisper to a friend during a movie, just not actually funny at all. I'm not a prude -- this just wasn't any good. Maybe teenagers would like it as their first taste of scandalous, obscene, oh-no-you-didn't shock comedy?

I couldn't finish it. It's written from a teenage boy's uncensored point of view. The harsh language, swearing, crudeness and the cynicism got to me. It will appeal to teenage boys, I am certain. It's paced for interest, easy to read, but so crude, just like the inside of a teen's thoughts.

I kind of loved this book. I loathed Gone Girl so this was a really fun way to blow off some pent up aggression towards the Nick & Amy duo.

This book was very funny. I thought that way that the author was able to make a joke out of almost any situation that was mentioned throughout the book was awesome, and takes some great skill! This book made me laugh over and over again and I will definitely be telling my friends about this one so that they can get a bunch of laughs out of it too.

The fault with THE FAULT IN OUR PANTS is the fault of the author who has written what I consider to be a very weak parody of THE FAULT IN OUR STARS by John Green - at least, that is what I thought after reading about 30% of the book and giving up on it. I like a good parody. The best parodies are of those that are about things that, in reality, are pretty awful. The problem, of course, is that I liked the book THE FAULT IN OUR STARS. So parodying something that is good just doesn't work for me. Maybe if the parodying was clever it might have worked. But what I read of the FAULT IN OUR PANTS is quite pathetic humour which essentially follows the storyline of the book and inserts what might be called schoolboy jokes every few lines. Not worth reading.

Is it a mockery of Gone Girl? Yep. Is it crude? Yep. Is there much else to say? I guess not. It is what it is.

Let me begin by saying thank you for allowing me to read your book in advance. I really enjoyed this book. It was very insightful and I’m happy that I had the chance to read it in advance.

I was given a free ebook copy in exchange for an honest review. This book was entertaining. Some parts were just plain dumb, some were funny, and some were the way I felt while watching the movie- as there was no way I was going to read the actual book. Not the worst and not the best parody book ever, but a fun, quick read.

I love a good parody, but this one was written in poor taste. There are some jokes that are funny. I laughed. But then there are jokes about things I can't laugh about -- child porn is one of them. The author tried too hard. Instead of offering a truly funny parody that one could enjoy, it delves into uncomfortable vulgarity.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started The Fault in Our Pants. I had read The Fault in Our Stars and to be completely honest, I liked it but was not blown away by it as others had seemed to be. And a parody? Okay, so the author is poking fun at the book, I get that. But when I first started reading, I found myself not enjoying it and I honestly thought I would stop reading it.

I picked it up later in the day to continue reading and I am not sure what changed for me, maybe I became uncrabby at that point or took my happy pills. I don't know, but I started seeing the similarities and differences between the two books and really got into it. I ended up thoroughly enjoying the book and thought it was a hoot. You, as the reader, would not 'get' all the little jokes and tangents that the author takes without first reading the original book but if you did, and are comparing the two, it becomes absurdly funny!

I also noted that Steve has written a parody of Gone Girl, which is another very popular book, one that I read and really enjoyed. I am pretty sure I am going to have to check that one out too, now that I 'get' Steve's sense of humor.

I received this e book in exchange for a review.

I enjoyed reading Gone Girl and thought a parody would be fun to read. I was wrong. This book was amusing in a way but basically it was pretty crude and vulger. I understand that the author was making Nick and Amy into the worst possible versions of themselves but I thought that the relationship between Nick and Margo was too much. Also I thought the characters started out amusing but after awhile the story line fell flat.½

Funny! As with any parody, it is not meant for those who are overly sensitive or attached to the original book. Raunchy, but entertaining in a demented sort of way.
