I'm a bit persnickety. It's completely possible that this would have earned a five star if the font hadn't been itty bitty. The detail and the breadth of knowledge out laid here met my expectations. The sentiments about prostitution at the end really struck a chord. If you like British history this will be an interesting read. It is not a romp.

Each story looks at the absurdness of life with a twist even. Stories include an editor that just rips into his staff while he focuses on editing a book that probably few will read. We have a story of a woman who adds pages to a book while the author of the book looks on. These are some great stories that come completely from left field.
The author has great talent, but like all short story collections some hit and some miss and I think it depends on the mood or the day which ones will do what. I found a bunch of them hit rather than missed, but it took a bit to figure out what the story was about.
