The expedition that travelled to western Baffin Island in Canada's high arctic to climb Mount Asgard. The team dropped their gear by plane and 3 members parachuted in. Unbelievable pictures.

Baffin Island is the 5th largest Island in the world. It’s part of Canada and it has very long winters. It is also beautiful. This book is part photo journal of the authors trip to Mount Asgard on Baffin Island and the ascent to the top.

The pictures are incredible! Mount Asgard is a something else, the sides are sheer for 1000s of feet and the shape is unforgettable. The author went with a crew with the intention of climbing this mountain. Complete insanity if you ask me, I’m just glad he took pictures of the whole trip.

He tells two stories through the book, one of the Norse gods, which would be on their mind since many of the mountains are named after them and they are planning to climb Asgard the home of the gods; the other is his story as it unfolds attempting to climb the mountain. Personally both stories seemed to incomplete. I wanted to know more details or less (mostly more!) about both the stories. Luckily the photos more than made up for any shortfall in the telling of tales.

Beautiful book, excellent Coffee Table Book. I learned a little about geography, rock climbing and Norse Mythology all in one.
