This is a fascinating and entertaining look at long distance motorcycle rallying through the eyes of a newlywed marriage therapist. It is well written and a fun page turner. I highly recommend this glimpse into a unique sport from a unique perspective, that of a passenger team member on a rallying team.

This book captures perfectly the experience of long distance motorcycle riding from the perspective of a couple riding on the same bike. Lynda Lahman participates in long distance motorcycling events with her husband Terry, and she relates how their personal relationship grew while they learned this sport together.

Lynda and Terry met in 2004 and almost immediately began long distance motorcycling as a two-up team (a rider and a passenger). Because their relationship with each other was so new, it was inevitable that their rapport with motorcycling and with each other would grow and improve simultaneously. Only a few months after they began dating, they rode their first long distance ride in preparation for a multi-day long distance rally in Utah.

From the beginning, Lynda and Terry worked through problems together - sitting down and working out what needed to be done next to come to a solution. They recognized their different styles of doing things and used that understanding to work together as a team. This method carried over from their personal relationship to their teamwork on the bike, and is applicable to the evolution of any type of bond.

This book will naturally appeal to the small community of long distance riders, but would also be enjoyed by anyone who enjoys a good memoir about learning to love and commit to a lasting partnership.

Lynda's writing is easy-going without being too informal. I read the book in less than two days and actually had trouble putting it down. I wanted to see what happened next and how they would work out solutions for both their relationship and their riding. It has a place of honor in my collection of memoirs.
