A beautiful book! Kudos to the editors and the J. P. Morgan Library, because they have reproduced the images of an enigmatic manuscript wonderfully. The text is decent, could have been a bit more scholarly, but O'Brian's introduction is crisp, lively, and wonderful. An excellent book, if you can find it at a nice price. Did some French Protestants with Sir Francis Drake pen this contribution to sixteenth century natural history? It seems so, as it conforms to the artistic and scientific conventions of the day.… (plus d'informations)
