Jacqui Knight specialises in short novels in the erotic chastisement genre. 'A Course of Discipline' is one of these. Its plot, scarcely credible, concerns a young lady who, having been disappointed in her intention to go to Oxford University through lack of parental support, finds a 'university' in a remote Scottish island where the payment of fees is deferred until after graduation. Success is guaranteed by a rigorous policy of severe corporal punishment which persists, increasingly severely, until students reach the requisite standard. Some members of staff have a sideline involving recreational drugs and the making of punishment videos, and the principal character covers her living expenses by allowing herself to feature in both activities. Chastisement scenes, though broadly consensual, are frequent and severe, but overall, the book is both improbable and perfunctory, an impression not helped by its many proof-reading errors and its sprinkling of grammatical howlers. It tells the story of a disobedient older schoolgirl whose parents despair of her and send her to a remote school that promises strict corporal punishment. They were not to know that the Headmaster is a sadist, with a lucrative sideline in selling videos of his caning activities, and his punishments become steadily more severe that action against him becomes necessary. It certainly has erotic moments, involving chastisement and humiliation, although towards the end the described severity borders on the extreme.… (plus d'informations)

This is a relatively slim volume from a publisher-on-demand, and is is part of the erotic chastisement genre, one which explores the joint attractions of school life and convent life. It tells the story of two wayward senior girls and their unusual escapades, although the prescribed school punishment - the cane applied to the nether parts - quickly ceases to have any deterrent effect. They come to enjoy it, in the giving as well as the receiving, and subsequent events include performances at a specialist club, and even acting as nuns entrusted with enforcing discipline. This allows them covert access to the convent, and knowledge of the chastising activities that seem to be commonplace there.
