This book provides an extremely straight-forward look at Iran, and is a great basic, first resource for any child learning about Persia. It is one in a series of similar books about countries, and I would welcome the opportunity to read some of the other editions in the Checkerboard Geography Library.
My background as a lawyer might be showing when I confess my thoughts that this book could have benefitted from a little more equivocation. In its brevity, the book suggests all Muslim Iranians share certain religious and political beliefs, when this is not true. I think the book also might benefit from a photo of modern Tehran, which it discusses but does not show.
The best part about this book is its inclusion of a simple recipe for shish kebab. Maybe I will make some tonight!
