Got this when it was free for Kindle. It's one of those series that I probably won't seek out additional books, but if one of them found me I'd read it.

I kind of feel like the author doesn't really know how to write the mystery part of cozy mystery--at least in the first two books. The last book was a bit better about explaining how Tilly put the mystery together. (Also, I kind of wish that the cozy mystery genre would expand beyond murder mysteries. I always wonder why people would continue to hire you if people continually turn up dead at your catered events/shop.)

I'm a bit confused as to how a bakery can start from the corner of an antique shop. Most times you need a commercial kitchen (license/certification?)--and no mention is ever made of that. At the level Tilly currently is, she might get by with not having one, but if she intends to grow as she's planning, I don't see how they'd get around it.

Fiona invites Tilly over to her bar to see the renovations she has planned. They go into the kitchen and find Holly, the health inspector dead after being conked on the head with a bag of frozen ravioli. Unfortunately, Fiona is on the suspect list because it is known that Holly had been harassing Fiona with nuisance infractions. Tilly knows her friend would not harm a soul and sets out to prove it. There is the additional problem of the burglaries plaguing the businesses in Belle Harbor. Tilly wants to know who is behind them so they can be stopped. Mousse and Mayhem by Sue Hollowell is the eleventh A Belle Harbor Cozy Mystery. I was able to read it as a standalone, but I missed the backstory on the characters. I believe it would have been better if I had read the earlier books in the series. Mousse and Mayhem is a lighthearted cozy mystery. I enjoyed the descriptions of the charming Belle Harbor. It sounds like a lovely town to work and live in. There is humor scattered throughout the story which I enjoyed. The mystery was straightforward. I liked that Tilly asked questions and looked for clues. When Tilly came up with the solution it seemed so sudden. Of course, that can happen when you suddenly realize one detail is important. I enjoyed the reveal of the guilty party. The story is short in length which makes it a quick read. There were tantalizing descriptions of the items Tilly creates in her bakery. I could tell that Tilly loves her uncle. She wanted to make sure his wedding to Linda is perfect. Mousse and Mayhem is a sweet cozy mystery with a bevy of baked goods, an exterminated health inspector, bewildering burglaries, gambling goals, wedding worries, and a steadfast friend who is determined to sleuth.… (plus d'informations)
