A brief, but important bookseller biography of "Minnesota's greatest bookseller", Edmund D. Brooks. For 20 Brooks had a store in Minneapolis and also published a good number of books including works by Arthur Symons and the poet, Arthur Upson. His customers included Wiener, Folger, A. Edward Newton, Chesterton and Richard Burton. Written by a newpaperman, the enticing details of specific books bought and sold is missing, but the controversy with a Scottish manuscript is well covered. Brooks' son took over after his death in 1919, but soon decided he would rather just publish books and started his own private press. The quality of the books which Brooks handled included a First Folio and a mumber of manuscripts by well-known authors, including Dickens.
