Of workplace parables, this is of the more enjoyable books. Quick prose, challenging goals, and a conceivable plan to implement them. Recommended for workplace book club discussions.

Short, but still padded. The storyline was silly.

The rules/lessons are straightforward. No surprises. The story that drives the lessons is simple. Still thinking what research is out there about leadership books that use this kind of narrative.
I think this book will be helpful for folks who have a lot of negativity in their lives and need something simple to move forward. Please also note that it does get a bit religious.

There were a couple nuggets of wisdom, but it didn’t help me at all. Feel like there is more to life? Welp, go all in on work and give it your all and POOF! Purpose appears. I’m calling bullshit.

This was a short audiobook and the positive impact of a change in attitude. The story revolves around an employee in a computer business that is having a recall problem. The employeeis also facing a number of personal issues after her divorce. A "no complaint" policy has a beneficial impact on her and on the company. I liked the book for the simple message. The book is merely a story but I think that attitude makes a huge difference. (

Are you a chronic complainer? Take a look at your life and think...how do you spend most of your time talking to people? And when you complain do you offer suggestions for ways to improve it? This is the premise behind this book and a plan to reduce complaints, not only at work, but in the rest of your life as well. And before you get in a tizzy, no complaining isn't necessarily wrong. But, when it starts consuming your life perhaps its a chance to step back. And if at work that's all you hear, perhaps its a chance to introduce this book to your colleagues.

What this book does is present in a story format of one company that takes on the program of the no complaining rule. They introduced guidelines for if you did complain what you had to do, such as offer suggestions. The "rule" was introduced as a way to help improve morale, efficiency, and make a more productive workplace. And it worked. The book introduces the topic in a simple format with guidelines of how you can introduce it first in your own life and then in the workplace.

Its a quick and easy read and comes with a supplemental website with additional information and handouts. If you're a manager or an aspiring manager, then this book should be on your bookshelf.

John Gordon's ''The Energy Bus'' is an excellent book that tells the story of how a bus ride can change a person's life. The Energy Bus is a great book that teaches readers about how looking for the positive can completely turn their day around. It also teaches the reader about how your attitude can affect other people's day. This is a great book to read to classes of any grade level and creates a lot of great discussion!

I loved this book! It encapsulated so much of what I've intuitively been doing as a leader and how I've been coaching others to be heart-focused leaders. Gordon sums it up with "Leadership begins with Love. Love is the greatest leadership principle on the planet."

A few important take-aways:
-Feel grateful instead of stressed.
-One positive leader will inspire others to be positive too.
-We are not positive because life is easy. We're positive because life can be hard.
-Negative thoughts come from fear and fear is a liar.
-As a leader, you have to address negativity by transforming it -- or removing it.

Over the years, I've been told my leadership style needs to be "tougher and more firm" and that I "wear my heart on my sleeve" but I don't think these are bad things. In the right environment and culture, optimism, connection, love and support can allow great things to happen!

Complete garbage. I’m giving it a half star because I’m not confident LibraryThing will recognize a zero. He does plug is other books every third page, so if you disagree with me, then at least your reading list is set.½

This Power of a Positive Team reminds on every page the importance of our attitude. In examples spanning business, sports and military, Gordon shares concept after concept in support of this theme. More than anything, I took from it the reminder that attitude is infection and it’s up to the leader to set the tone, regardless of circumstances.

I'm sorry, but while this book has some helpful advice about remaining upbeat and setting boundaries between our feelings and others' attitudes (no energy vampires!), it is pretty trite and simplistic. All too often, the places that rave about this book need to examine how their own policies and procedures affect morale versus books like this. (I suggest you read John G. Miller, and his QBQ books, instead.)

Thanks to Goodreads and the publisher for a free copy of the Power of Positive Leadership! There's a lot to think about here, and a lot of advice that I will be applying to my own life.

I am amazed this book didn't burst its covers yet! It is so vibrant, radiates joy, that it buzzes.
Read it with great interest, and at first a bit of scepticizm, but once I started reading, it all came together and it does make sense.

The story of George was cute.

The message is: Be Positive.

What bugged me is everything - the book, the links; uses a picture of a school bus. An adult with car problems doesn't take a school bus. He takes a City or Metro bus, not a yellow school bus.

George’s life is falling apart, he is about to get fired from his job for poor performance, his wife is thinking of divorcing him, and now his car is out of commission and he must take the city bus to work for two weeks. George is full of negative energy and a lot of cynicism. That’s when he meets Joy, the bus driver who spreads nothing but positive energy through her 10 rules of life to be successful in anything. At first George thinks they are stupid, but as he started applying them to his life, his marriage becomes better, work becomes better, and he becomes a better person by living through the 10 rules. This book was a very good read. It was applicable to education, coaching, and anything else in life. Learning about externalizing positive energy to the people around you is an important ingredient to success. Incorporating these 10 rules will pay huge dividends in the long term. Good read for a high school student who is about to enter the real world after high school. Teaches them about having the right mindset in whatever endeavor they choose to go on.
