Rhoda C. Ellison

A gift for anyone interested in the history of Alabama journalism, politics, and related topics. Dr. Ellison created a detailed, thorough, and accurate listing of nineteenth-century newspapers alphabetized by town. My dream is to create a database of the book so that I can search more easily, for example, to follow editors through their careers, and particularly in partnerships. Dr. Ellison is the author of several books on the history of Bibb County, Alabama, among others. She was my mother's English literature professor at Huntingdon College (Montgomery) in the mid 1950s. She educated a generation of mostly young women who went on to teach English later at the University of Alabama, Georgia Tech, the University of Arkansas, and throughout the South.
