This series has been fun! Anything involving spies, covert operations and the Russians has to be a good plot, right? Sue Duffy wraps up her trilogy with her latest book, Deeper than Red. Liesl just can't seem to be done with the spy life. She is yet unknowingly still a target and all she desires is to get on with life. I think Sue Duffy did a great job wrapping up all the loose ends and putting a finale to her series. I didn't walk away feeling like the story was left undone. The twists and turns in the story were again great making you wonder who was really behind the newest plot. Sue Duffy kept the story line alive and moving all the way throughout the book. So, if you're looking for a fun exciting series, make sure to pick up Red Returning trilogy this summer.

Deeper Than Red is the third and final book in this riveting, and page turning series. How we take our every day life for granted, and when reading these books it becomes a real eye opener of the possibilities that have a true ring to them.
We all know that evil walks here, Satan is always ready to grab you, and this place in the FL Keys is fictional, but oh how I believe it is somewhere! We are told that he is after us, and yet do we think so, No, but we put names and faces to him in this book.
After three books where we hold on to the book tightly, hoping that nothing will happen to Liesl and her talented friend Max, we are experiencing it again. Also the President, Nolan, and such hate his half brother has for him, and we learn that not everything was rosy for Nolan.
Power is all-important here in the quest for world domination, and innocent people have no value, so very sad. Once this final book is picked up, you cannot stop turning the pages to see who is going to win, and survive. I wish there were more, and don’t fret if you haven’t read the first two books, this one allows you to get caught up in all the action, but do yourself a favor and enjoy the first two, you won’t be disappointed!

I received this book through Kregel Publications, and was not required to give a positive review.

Title: Deeper Than Red (Red Returning #3)
Author: Sue Duffy
Pages: 287
Year: 2014
Publisher: Kregel Publications
What a great finish to an intriguing and entertaining series! This third story in the Red Returning series is set a bit in Florida, Germany and Washington, D.C. mostly. There are references or snippets of other places, but the previously mentioned places are where the majority of the story takes place. Liesl, Cade, Ian, Ava, Max and Evgeny as well as some others make repeat appearances.
Liesl and Max have agreed to perform a concert in Nuremburg. Max is still searching for his elusive father, but now as part of Mossad. Liesl and Max again are threatened, but by whom? Their main enemy, Ivan Volynski, is dead. Who is calling for their death now? Will they ever be able to live a normal life? They refuse to cancel their concert and head to Germany. Liesl still has Evgeny watching over her, trying to keep her safe from an assassin.
Tally Greyson is trying to save her mom from going over to the “dark” side. They live in Florida near a community of spiritualists, mediums and other similar types of people. Her mother is heavily involved in this and Tally is desperate to get her out before it is too late. Tally has been sneaking into the compound to find out what goes on behind closed doors and sees more than she bargains for. What is in the mysterious crate off-loaded from the plane at the compound’s private air strip? Did one of the men near the plane have a Russian accent? Tally is facing spiritual powers she has no idea how to combat. She receives help from an unlikely source though.
I have read all three books in this series and enjoyed each one. I just loved the character of Ian, his gruffness and his faith. He isn’t afraid to let people see what he believes. I also liked seeing how Liesl had matured and grown stronger in her faith. This is a wonderful spy series with lots of political maneuvering, intrigue and deception. I’m looking forward to see what this author released next.
My rating is 5 stars.

Red Dawn Rising is the second book in this series by Sue Duffy. I read the first book, The Sound of Red Returning, and didn’t really like it. I am glad I gave Duffy another look. Red Dawn Rising is a fast-paced novel with an intriguing plot. I found the characters believable and with the current international climate, the premise entirely realistic. And although it is the second book, it can easily be read as a standalone. If you like international intrigue and page-turning action, pick up Red Dawn Rising.
