Tardy Bells & Witches Spells, my first read from author Sarina Dorie and the first book in Womby’s School for Wayward Witches. Although I own a number of her books I’d never gotten around to reading one. This is it. Well-written with an unexpected twist in the ending. I look forward to my next read from this author! (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018)

I liked this book and now I AM HOOKED ON VEGA BLOODMIRE!! I liked that when Vega saw students and her roommate shake when they had to go to Mr. Milton's classroom and now he is dead and SHE is the main suspects.

Space travel meets the Victorian era in this interesting story. Unfortunately, it was also a bit disjointed and confusing at times. Although the writing itself has no serious errors to detract from the story, it wasn't always easy to follow or immerse myself in the plot. I really think this would have benefitted from going for a more fantasy setting, instead of including things that tie the story to the real world. Overall, it's intriguing, but I'm not sure where I fall on how much I like it. Three stars for solid writing and a fun premise.

What happens when a Fairy Godmother falls from grace? She's doomed to work as a Tooth Fairy. The story opens with the scandalous flashback to when she was caught in the closet with Prince Charming - only to learn that he was married to someone else. She went on to receive the blame for the affair, being called awful names and suffering under the implication that she seduced him. After that moment with the prince, she lost everything: her good name, reputation, friends, job, and was even kicked out of the realm. The opening is a necessary moment that Sarina Dorie uses as a catalyst to show the worst moment in Mira's life while also giving the underlying reason for her desperation to get her status back. The story then jumps to 2014 where her job as a Tooth Fairy is set up like a regular office building where she deals with common situations from the delicate line of making friends with co-workers, dealing with sexual harassment, sexism, embezzling, and classism. These elements lead her to uncover the truth behind what's really going on in her office (and her boss's actions) and inspire her to form an alliance with the other Tooth Fairies.

Mira has an attitude that has given her an edge and kept her going through re-establishing her life after her banishment. But while she has a strong brazen side, she also has a compassionate and big heart. She cares about the children (as any Fairy Godmother would) and tends to lag behind in her work (collecting teeth) because she tends to help children with their various problems. She genuinely cares about the children despite being on the clock and its the one way she's held onto her previous life. As the story unfolds she uncovers several shocking secrets - like the rich kids get cold coins while the poor kids get regular ones - and even uncovers the truth behind her banishment. As if she didn't have enough problems, she's haunted by a Bogeyman who speaks in cryptic messages and with the determination to help her. Despite the fact that she may be heartbroken and has spent the last several years avoiding any and all connections, she meets Aden who shakes up her world with a passionate connection that has her head over heels. The story explores a world of darkness and light through a fairy drawn to creatures of darkness who may help her finally understand the light. Wrath of the Tooth Fairy is quirky, funny, emotional, and weaves a story that uncovers betrayal, manipulation, and second chances. Dorie delivers a story that explores defining moments in our lives through a magical world with demons and fairies.

The first thing that caught my attention was the cover, very cute and different from most of the ones out there, and it really shows the vibe of the stories. I got it as a freebie but I'm definitely buying any other anthology she has.

It was an ok book. There wasn't enough steampunk to really back up the title. There are a lot of parallels to colonization and empire building by western powers in our world in this story. There were some clunky parts - like trying to push the idea that the people already living on the planet were Japanese and kind of forcing different things in to make it clear. I think with some adjustments it could be really great.

A nice collection of humorous short stories with paranormal influence. Each story is followed by an author's note describing the influence for the story. This is a great light read.

*I received a copy of this book from Hidden Gems for free. The review is my own, honest and unsolicited.

While I received an ARC of this book, I have made an independent decision to post this review. This is the story of Sumiko's life growing up as the daughter of the tribe's leader. She's a precocious girl and always tries to do "the right thing". We see her grow into a powerful young woman. I truly enjoyed this book!

Great Series, I drop everything to read as soon as it comes. In this one our favorite teacher has lost her magic just as a Fae Prince starts to show interest in her. Can this be safe?

Intriguing New World
REVIEW: Beautifully created world reminiscent of Avatar. The detail of the society was delicately defined. I especially liked the sense of humor sprinkled amidst the tragedies. A fascinating story well worth the read. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.

DESCRIPTION, NOT REVIEW: What would the Victorian era look like if they had “rediscovered” space flight? Would the British really be interested in colonizing the continent of America if they could colonize an entire planet?

Imagine a Neo-Victorian alternate history romance set on a shogun-like planet. Felicity is a young lady betrothed to a British noble of rank and fortune who will someday inherit a space station. Her life should be happy and perfect. Alas, she fears she will never achieve happiness—or wholeness—until her memories have been returned by the man who stole them.

In pursuit of her past, Felicity returns to an alien planet where she once encountered descendants of Japanese colonists from Earth who had settled millennia before. After a seven year absence, she finds the world much changed. The climate and geography have been altered, the planet has been colonized by her own Victorian culture, destroyed by unethical surveyors, and she is told the man she believes may have stolen her memories—a man she once loved and trusted—is dead. Her only hope for finding answers about her mysterious past is performing the Jomon courtship ritual of memory exchange. The idea of trusting another man enough to perform the ritual after what she has been through is too much and she doesn’t know if she can go through with it. Worse yet, she finds herself falling in love with the alien planet’s leader, even though she is already engaged. Only when she learns to let go of her fears can she learn the secrets that may aid in the freedom of the Jomon people—and herself.

Review of Witches Gone Wicked- Womby’s School for Wayward Witches
By Sarina Dorie

Witches Gone Wicked is a witty, humorous and a refreshing exclamation of what it would be like to teach in a school for witches. It entices you to believe that witches are not necessarily as gifted in their craft as other writers have often portrayed. You will want to keep reading with the desire for more. This is definitely an adult read, because of brief sexual encounters and “witchy language” outbursts. I enjoyed it immensely. This book was a gift for a review and I have it online.
