Over 500 illustrations and detailed explanations take you from basic nunchaku stances and grips to advanced strikes, counters and applied self-defense techniques. The information contained in this book is as good as it gets for use of the Bo. My particular copy is showing its age. The beginner may not be able to follow all the material here, but this is still an excellent addition to all martial artists libraries.

Written originally in 1976, it still is one of the very best in self-instruction of the 6-foot 1 1/4" "stick". Cold Steel sells a very affordable 4-foot wax wood stick (called a yon shaku-bo) that is a perfect selection, and is a completely legal item to carry hiking, traveling, in your car. The book is very easy to follow, comprehensive and a great source to get the fundamentals of kobu-do bo-jitsa katas.

This book should be a follow up of Demura first book. This book still covers basics, which it does well. I would recommend this as a basic or intermediate book in your instruction with this Okinawan weapon. I strongly recommend anyone who practices with martial art weapons does so under the supervision of an instructor.

This book is an excellent source for students who have never held Nunchaku. (Though I do recommend having an instructor teach you the basics). A great value when I bought it in 1971. This takes you through the basics but one must proceed with caution.
