Good heavens - this is the operating manual for an extinct tri-color camera from 1938, one using three film-packs at once ((2.25" x 3.25" roll-film, two rolls of ortho and one of panchromatic), exposed simultaneously through two half-mirrors and three filters. . . . what a nightmare. (The replacement cost for the mirrors - which sound like aluminized mylar? - is given as $15.00 each.)

"The film {three negatives...} for a set of Color-Scout negatives costs between fourteen and sixteen cents. The cost of making a Neotone print for material is about the same. A dozen Color-Scout exposures represents but $1.90 for the negatives. If the amateur will but give three times the care and attention to each exposure he makes with the Color-Scout that he has been in the habit of giving to his black and white exposures, the cost of full color photography will be no higher than that of black and white."

(Which implies that roll film is on the order of 5¢ a frame.)
