it says something about this book, that as simple as the story is (a not-so-heavy-handed handling of time travel mixed with young adult romance), and as messy and bursting-at-the-seams it sometimes felt in parts, i was crying by the third act. i would be happy to end the series here, but i'll probably go ahead with the third book at some point. extra points to merphy for her superb performance of the audiobook.

this is like the YA version of 'the time traveler's wife'...less intense, less sophisticated, more saccharine...oh the mushy sweetness! its innocent sweetness, though. like good, light cake. it is also not without a plot or a mystery that's beautifully developed. its not all about the romance, too, as the story also revolves around the strong familial relations between mothers and daughters. made me definitely want to read the whole trilogy.

first, though, i need a new yellow dress ;)
