Michael Church is Professor Emeritus at the University of British Columbia, where he taught geomorphology, hydrology, and studies in resources and environment for 38 years. He researches river morphodynamics, with a major interest in sediment transport and sedimentation. Michael Church has been teaching aerobatic flight for more than 40 years and is recognized as a Master Aerobatic CFI. Under his leadership Sunrise has grown to become the most varied and active aerobatic operation in the US: instructors deliver specialized maneuver and safety training to hundreds of customers every year.
