This is a comprehensive overview of techniques for organising and arranging information from cataloguing and classification to information architecture and the semantic web. It is stronger on the former, than the latter but still gives and insight into how the digital complicates long-standing codes and and formats, some of which have endured from the 19th century and the early days of automation in the 1960s. Where next remains a problem. Some of the web references are a little dated, but it's also noticeable how little the debates about organising information for the web and linked data has moved on.… (plus d'informations)

Ready to stretch your mind? First, a question: Which is now larger in your library/learning commons, the print collection or the digital collection? For most, it is now the later. So what? And, what’s next? While this is a general collection of articles about various ideas and challenges surrounding digital access, it is worth the effort, at times, to get more general than just school libraries to get a different and larger perspective of what issues our field faces in the current environment and what is in our near future. So, we recommend perusing the ideas here as a means to broaden your conversation. Some of the topics include: information architecture and design, metadata, access, collaborative searching, users and the social element, scholarly information, and open access to name a frew. If you are a regular user of information on the web, these ideas will not be as new as you believe at first glance and our young scholars are already knocking at these doors.
