Disconnected (Book 1), by L. Calell, is a crime/love/mystery drama that is well-written and definitely a page turner. The character development is exceptional—I wish I had as good a grasp on that talent—and the story flows in a sensible manner. As usual with this genre, I find it difficult to review the book without giving away important plot items, so I will simply say that if you enjoy a good ‘who-done-it’, you will really enjoy this book. Except for one detail that I get, but also hate. My recommendation would be to acquire Book 2 before you begin to read the novel so you don’t end up, as I did, wanting the rest of the story and what happens to Katie RIGHT NOW!

If I may borrow the author’s description - Disconnected is an intense, emotional journey that will have you smiling one minute and then feeling hurt and pain the next. You want it to work out, you want the happy ending - but then life is never that straightforward, this book will leave you with a void, this book will leave you disconnected!

I couldn’t have typed it better, but remember, get Book 2 before you start Book 1, or you really will feel ‘Disconnected’.

I just finished reading Disconnected by L. Calell. It is about a woman who struggles to reconnect herself after being traumatized for so long. Her husband is doing everything he can to help her through it. He keeps showing her love even though she is literally unable to return that love. She is also trying to reconnect with her mother after a long absence.

This book was a very hard read. I don’t say this because it was a bad read. I say it because a very tough topic was brought up. I actually think very highly of this writer for being able to write something so heavy. This was a very beautifully written story. I felt for all of the characters. I could understand everybody’s points of view and why they felt the way they felt. It’s not often you find that kind of thing in stories. I can honestly say I was really pulled in.

There wasn’t really much that I didn’t like about this book. In fact, I can’t think of anything at all that I didn’t like. It was a very heavy read. I think that needs to be put out there. No matter how heavy it was, it was still a great read. I’m glad I was given the opportunity to read it.

I fully recommend this book to many women out there. I don’t know if Lifetime still does movies, but they used to air dramatic movies all the time. I was reminded of that when I read this story. I guess what I’m trying to say is if you were ever a fan of Lifetime movies, you will be a fan of this book. I honestly dare you to try to read this book and not feel any kind of emotion at all from it.
