A page to parents with instructions to help a developing reader starts the book. There are also helpful hints for the readers to build motivation and confidence.
Nick is a kid of color and Nack is a robot. They form a great team because Nick loves to build things and Nack loves to find things. After eating a popsicle nick suggests making a birdhouse with the sticks. They also are looking for paint and brushes. The reader is asked to help looking for the hidden brushes. Following pages have other objects hidden.
The typeface is large and colorful illustrations make it a great read for beginning readers who are beyond reading site words. There is still repetition of words to practice.
The last spread has a do it yourself birdhouse made out of popsicle sticks and there is a page with the answers for the hidden objects in the back. On the back of this hardback copy the books are leveled with both the Lexile and Fountas & Pinnell Text level gradient systems.
