Interesting approach but the writing was only so-so. The arguments between Furry and main character were repetitive and the over use of 'Bahhh' as a dismissive objection wore thin. Near the end I found an incorrect use of "your" in place of "you're," which I see daily on Facebook, but in a published book? Copy editor was asleep at the switch I think.

I guess that's why they call it the blues - this novel has them all: Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Blind Lemon, Lead Belly, Charlie Patton, Furry Lewis, Bukka White, Robert Johnson, Son House, John Lee Hooker. It's two stories: that of the real Charlie Patton, who brought together and taught most of the rest of the Delta bluesmen listed, and the fictional tale of Franklyn O'Connor, who runs away from home in 2002 to track down his father, a white blues singer who left his family for down South. The author claims that the tales of the real people are mostly true, and both halves are lively and entertaining reading. Two more volumes are projected.… (plus d'informations)
