See my reviews for other books in the series. All the books in the "Introducing Chemistry" series might as well be a single book.

This series is excellent. It is well written, well-organized and the individual pages are well laid out. It is enjoyable for an adult to read. Most of the books in the series have mini-experiments and mini-biographies sprinkled throughout. The books in the series do not need to be read in any particular order.

This book, of course, discusses the metals. Like all the books, it begins rather generally, with a discussion of the periodic table and the general properties of metals. Then it moves on to discussing specific groups of metals. The book, which is only 64 pages, is divided into about 10 chapters, each chapter is nicely distinguished from the others by means of page headers. Well done all around and very interesting.½

This one looks like the girls will know it by heart by the age of 8. Great pictures, interesting facts, in short: A very attractive encyclopedia.
