This shows some beautiful pieces in it, but the organization of the books leaves a lot to be desired.
It has as follows: colour plates with descriptions (which lack the maker's names); lists of motifs and materials; list of designers (without showing the makers' marks); glossary of terms.
It would have been much more efficient to have the designers' names, showing the designer marks within the description accompanying the colour plates.

Small, but lots of photos. Good overview for a beginner, but not adequate for someone who really wants to go in depth.

This is an extremely informative book about all aspects of plastic jewelry. It is an excellent reference work, and will remain so even after the prices are outdated. The appendices discuss the different types of plastics, their qualities, trade names, uses, sources of damage. There is also a great deal of historical information, a glossary, bibliography and short biographies of designers Kenneth Jay Lane and Eugene Joseff, as well as major collectors. The illustrations include archival shots of jewelry catalogs and advertisements.

If I were choosing between this book and Leigh Leshner's Collecting Art Plastic Jewelry, I think this has much more information, although I am happy to have both in my collection.

The book is also lavishly illustrated, most pictures being large and in color. Overall, a beautifully done book.

A couple of books that complement this with other types of high-quality costume jewelry are: Fabulous Fakes by Carole Tanenbaum (which focuses more on glittery stuff), and Victorian Jewelry: Unexplored Treasures by Ginny Redington Dawes and Corinne Davidov (which cover things like pebble jewelry, aluminum and iron jewelry).
