Courte biographie
Rachel Bailey developed a serious book addiction at a young age (via Peter Rabbit and Jemima Puddle-Duck) and has never recovered. Just how she likes it. She went on to gain degrees in Psychology and later Social Work. She loved practicing social work, but is now living her dream—writing romance for a living since 2010.

She lives with her hero and four dogs on her own piece of paradise on Australia’s east coast - 10 acres of native trees on the side of a hill, within driving distance to the beach. She loves to sit with a dog or two, overlooking the trees and read books from her ever-growing to-be-read pile.

What Happens in Charleston...
4 Stars

When his young son is hospitalized, Matt Kincaid contacts the only person in a position to save his life - Susannah Parrish, the boy's biological mother. After agreeing to act as a surrogate for Matt and his wife's child, Susannah never believed she would see her child again. The situation is made all the more difficult by her intense attraction to his widowed father. Can Matt and Susannah overcome the secrets of the past to have a future together?

After reading the first book in the series a few years ago, I had not planned on continuing. Nevertheless, the book fit well into a challenge, and so I decided to bite the bullet. I am so glad that I did as this is a delightful read.

Matt and Susannah's pseudo-forbidden romance is very sweet. Susannah's open, generous and loving nature makes it easy to identify with her character, and Matt's struggle to come to terms with the guilt over his wife's death and his attraction for Susannah is realistic and believable.

The ongoing mystery surrounding the death of Matt's father continues with an intriguing twist. That said, I am beginning to develop a theory regarding the killer's identity. It will be interesting to see if it pans out.

Although I really, really like the reason behind the 'forbidden sibling's best friend' in this novel, I'm stopping at 37%. At a point where I'm pretty sure I'm meant to be on pins and needles, instead I rolled my eyes and thought of a much better way to word the last sentence of a scene.

This is a perfectly fine novel, as far as I got. It's just not for me, is all, and so I move on.

A nice little amnesia story. There wasn't any angst and not a whole lot of character development. Not great writing, not poor writing. Went along nicely but nothing to really rave about.

So ordinary. Melodrama? Check. Paper thin motivations? Check. Falling back into each others arms ludicrously fast? Check. Puppy? Check. Nothing stands out here. It took place over about 3 days. If you can get back together again so easily there's really not much to write about. Mostly just a bunch of bedrooms scenes threaded loosely together. In places where more story could have been added, the opportunity was ignored. Tell us about her life with the evil brother for example. It would go a long way towards making her a character we could care about.… (plus d'informations)
