Mrs. Sokol is the author of several books including the award nominated romance Caribbean Crossroads, Create a Powerful Life Plan, Faithful, Fit Fabulous, Life is Too Short for One Hair Color Series, and Motherhood Matters, as well as talk CDs and podcasts. Let me start off by saying that I'm not a mother at the current time. I may or may not be one in the future. Regardless, the social structure of motherhood as a role still interests me, which is why I chose to read this book.
I did not realize at the time that I entered the contest that this was a book heavily based in religious thought. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just that I'm not a particularly religious person myself so I think some of the message was lost to me in that respect. Also, I believe that the author was writing from a Mormon based perspective so many of the references were lost to me in that respect.
Regardless of that, I do want to say that I did appreciate the positive messages of the book. I also liked some of the anecdotes, but found others to be somewhat dry, so I couldn't really connect with the author or really get a sense into her own personal view on motherhood which is what I think I went into the book expecting to read about.
Even though this book wasn't for me, anyone who's looking for some positive messages may appreciate it.… (plus d'informations)
