Talk about OPPOSITES attract! This novel reminded me of my husband and me, fighting like cats and dogs yet married for almost FIFTY years! I liked that Kayla Tyler and Dean Westbrook had gone to school together yet he didn't know her and when he arrested her for not following the parade's rules and she stayed to guard her leather goods! I liked that Dean Westbrook, Jr. had left town away from everyone who'd ever known that his dad was bad to the bone and treated he and his twin sister like pond scum, but when he looked at Kayla he felt that he was not good enough for a decent woman like him and no matter how many times he apologized to her she always managed to glare at him. A fun story with a lot of tension, this book kind of forced you into a story filled with a lot of heart. The conflicts within it are enough to keep the story going without being overwhelming. I loved seeing the way these two just could not stay away from each other. Despite all that was keeping them apart, they had to find a way together and things got a little crazy after that as it moved into a hidden relationship.

I felt like I was on the edge of my seat, just waiting for everything to blow up. There were a lot of funny moments throughout that helped to break up some of the heavier things going on, and it was needed. I loved the group dynamics and getting to see all the different characters. They all have such interesting ways they add to the story. Their antics were one of my favorite parts of the book. I'm looking forward to the other books.

Overall, it was an entertaining rom-com, and it made me interested in reading more.

And what are the odds that every detailed plan will be followed and accomplished without a hitch? You'll want to savor this story to find out.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I am not from a military or political family, but enjoyed these characters. They were very relatable and likable.
It was the perfect romantic comedy full of not just laughs and OMG moments, but also moments of introspective thoughts that many of us can all relate to. I loved that the author included these to round out the humanness of the characters and bring me into the discussion with a "Yes!"
