Set during Venice's carnival, we follow Urbino Macintyre in his second adventure in sleuthing. Proust's "A la recherche du temps perdu" is kinda of the key of the mystery. Like the first novel, literature plays a big part in the plot and how the characters act and think. A young man is killed in an infamous back street of Venice during carnival and his murder starts a domino effect in the lives of the people caught in the middle. It's well written, the carnival is made part of the plot not just scenery. I should have paid more attention to Proust but then again sometimes it's fun to be surprised. Nach langer Abwesenheit kehrt Urbino Macintyre endlich nach Venedig zurück. Begleitet wird er von dem jungen Marokkaner Habib, dem er die reizvolle Lagunenstadt in aller Ruhe zeigen möchte. Doch schon nach wenigen Tagen bittet ihn seine gute Freundin Barbara, die Contessa da Capo-Zendrini, um Hilfe: Sie wird von einer alten Frau mit Informationen aus ihrer Vergangenheit erpresst. Urbino verspricht Barbara seinen Beistand, doch dann überschlagen sich die Ereignisse: Die alte Nina Crivelli wird ermordet, und der Verdacht fällt ausgerechnet auf Urbinos Reisebegleiter Habib. Sollte er sich so sehr in dem jungen Marokkaner getäuscht haben?
