This one really made an impression on my kid. We read it just a few times (you know, maybe 3 to 5 times -- relatively few for the toddler set) but months later she still periodically references the cat on the moon. So I guess that makes this one a stand-out.

This is a story of a village who everyone knew how to make baskets in all shapes and sizes. One day a wind storm comes through and wont stop. It is blowing everything around so they start making a basket as big as they can. But still does not hold the wind. A little boy made a tiny basket with a feather and a cattail fluff, and thistledown in it, the wind thought how cozy that might be and calmed down.
