It all starts with the death of June Bennett, owner of multiple companies and dress shop Look Good. She is found hanged, dressed in 1930s clothes. Then another body is discovered. Is there a connection between the two people, and what could be the motive for either of the deaths.
D.I. Drake and his team investigate.
An entertaining and well-written modern mystery with its likeable main character supported by a cast of varied personalities. Another good addition to this enjoyable series.

Picked up as a free ebook from Amazon during an offer period. This is one of the first traditional crime procedurals I've read in ages (perhaps years) and it's also set in the less-than-traditional Welsh countryside, so I believe that's why I picked it up. This is the first in the Inspector Drake series.

Drake is a married man with several children and he has plenty of his own issues. He finds solace and peace in having order around him - even if it means staying at work late to have his desk tidy and the soduku puzzle finished.

Rest of the review can be found on my blog here: https://nordie.wordpress.com/2015/06/18/book-review-brass-in-pocket-by-stephen-p...

The body of investigative journalist Jack Holt is found pinned onto a crochet lawn. He supposedly had a meeting that evening with a person from the Peel Foundation. Then another body is found, pinned by crochet hoops to his lawn. What could be the motive and possible connection between the men. D.I. Ian Drake and his team investigate.
An entertaining and well-written modern mystery with its cast of likeable and varied characters. Another good addition to this enjoyable series.
