dhaxton | Jul 21, 2023 | I really enjoyed this! While I thought there would be a bit more guidance on what it meant to forest bathe, I was not disappointed. However, the poems and reminders to breathe makes me want to purchase! (I borrowed this copy from the library)

bookdrunkard78 | 1 autre critique | Jan 6, 2022 | This little collection of church signs runs the gamut from the spiritual to pure humor. Some are right to the point about salvation, while others just give you a poke in the right direction. With just a few words for each sign, the sayings manage to be quite inspirational while still being entertaining. This book could be used as a reference book for signage. There’s one I’d like to see on my own church sign, considering the COVID-19 closure we recently ended: “Now open between Easter and Christmas”!

Maydacat | May 31, 2021 | I bought this little book in a cute, out-of-the-way bookstore in Carmel-by-the-Sea. While it was fun to read and I enjoyed the quotations and the pictures, which were beautiful, I was hoping for a little more in-depth guide to forest bathing. Perhaps because it was compiled by a publishing company and does not list a specific author, it comes across as a bit superficial. It’s redeeming grace, however, occurs in its ability to invoke personal memories of moments spent among trees while forest-bathing. That alone is worth the purchase of the book.

LoriFox | 1 autre critique | Oct 24, 2020 | An intentionally simple and straightforward primer focused on sharing the basics of white witchcraft.
While I was really excited to read this book, I just didn't learn anything new from it - and I'm not an avid practicioner of white witchcraft. In places I found it try and overly drawn out (ie: history) while in others, I wanted more information pertaining to white witchcraft specifically (crystals, incense, etc). Much of what I did read here, I could easily find on the internet or otherwise have read in more comprehensive primers.
While I realize this is a "little" book, and truly intended for those not at all familiar with white witchcraft, this fell flat for me. I can't see myself having it as a reference piece.
Note: I did receive a review copy through NetGalley prior to release, and there were a few mistakes and color bleed issues with the electronic copy I had access to. This may have changed with publication.
A huge thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me early access to read and review this book.

bonnyadventures | Feb 3, 2019 | As a nursing student, I found most of these to be hilarious. A few were in poor taste, but most were very funny. I can't wait to come up with a few of my own as the semester progresses.

KidSisyphus | Apr 5, 2013 | I thought there would be more recipes, but mostly it was just sort of a picture dictionary. And I read it while I was very hungry with no food in the house, so it also made me mad. Not the book's fault, I'm just sayin.

benuathanasia | Sep 9, 2012 | As a former medical worker, this had me cracking up! I can easily visualize patients and doctors actually saying some of these things. I can't wait to read the 2013 calendar, as it's sure to be a riot.

sealford | 1 autre critique | Nov 23, 2011 | What it is, how to use it, and some how to make. From spotted dick (which I would not make) to Tom Yum (which I would make). This book is not to read as a novel, but is a way to become a better chef. How to use Durian or Dragon Fruit, or how to make Kim chi, World wide scope.

cookebooks | 1 autre critique | Jan 29, 2011 | Inspired by the motivational poster created by the British government in 1939 (which was never used, but was rediscovered in 2000 in a second-hand bookstore), Keep Calm and Carry On is a collection of smart and sensical quotes. Being a lover and collector of great quotations, I had to pick up this little book the last time I was at the bookstore. Sometimes when I'm not in the mood for a full-fledged novel, things like this book of quotations really hits the spot.

susanaudrey | 1 autre critique | Jan 31, 2010 | Mea culpa. I didn't receive this calendar as a gift, I bought it in December. The 2009 version has often irritated me with errors (ex: "2009 March 23 Drinking just one cup of tea is equivalent to eating one portion of vegetables." Boxes of tea bags clearly say: Tea is not a substitute for fruits, vegetables or juices.) The 2010 will not: it went back in its box when I realised that not only the images were repeated but the texts also (Dec 18 2009= Oct 23 2010).

krishh | Jan 4, 2010 | Fabulous little book of quotes. Unlike many collections of quotations, these are all relevant to the theme, and are actually worth thinking about/inspiring in a non-Hallmark kind of way. And the design of this book is fab as well - nice to look at, nice to hold.
